Busy – is anyone else at this time of year?

I realized that it has been a bit since I have written a post! I have had my days and evenings taken up with many things – there are times I wish there were more hours in the day and other times, I wish it was more compressed!

This month has been a month of cultivating one of my loves in life – music. I sing in a community choir. We perform in just a few days and it will be beautiful to see the completion of time, hard work, and becoming unified. Choirs are interesting – without one of the parts the music loses some of its more important pieces. Harmonies are linked together to please the ear and to give variety to the sound produced. Choirs are benefited greatly by composers, directors, orchestras or piano accompanists. Sometimes choirs can produce beautiful sound on their own without instruments.

When I participate in group singing, I learn about synergy. Synergy is working together to create something greater than you could do alone. My voice has aged and with that has some challenges in making my voice sound pleasant on its own. When I join with a choir singing, we together create something synergetic – it requires all of us – unique voices blending together creating something greater than we could do on our own.

There are many parts of our life that require synergy. Collaboration at work, serving in a community effort, and family life. This next week is Thanksgiving – and there is synergy around that holiday. I have children who are adults now who are taking the lead on our meal. They plan it and put order to it – then extend invitations of assistance to join together to create a meal that would likely be less enjoyable without that effort of togetherness.

Where do you find areas of synergy in your life? Are there places that fill harmonious, unified and collaborative? How does that occur? We work at making that group effort together. This week as you share your table with others in your life, notice the synergy of collaborative efforts. Be present with the harmony, peace and gratitude you are feeling. Some of the best parts of our lives are in the working processes of creating something greater than we do on our own. For me, especially with my family, I have found synergy to be a deeply connective experience. I wish you all a hopeful Thanksgiving – and many wonderful collaborative experiences with your loved ones.
